There are terms in massage which are in French. Dr. P.H. Ling, originally developed techniques that could be effective and standup to the scrutiny of establised medical professionals of his time. Later, Johan Georg Mezger revisited Ling's work and formed what we know of today as "Swedish Massage." Both Ling and Mezger were Swedish, the techniques were practiced as far as I can tell primarily in Sweden so why many massage terms are in French is a mystery. If you know please share with me, I'd love to know. You might even get some money off your next massage as a "thank you".
