Friction
Friction is applying pressure over a specific area and rubbing back and forth, or in a circular motion while avoiding any glide over the skin. Vibration and Friction can look a lot alike, but vibration often involves actually grasping a muscle, whereas friction is used to get one layer of tissue to rub over the other.
This technique works really well for breaking up adhesions where travelling compression doesn't work well, or in a focused area like that attachment point of a tendon or ligament.
